Research Seminar in Human Rights Studies: Role of human rights in water management (Part of LU4Water)
Presentation of a postdoc project within the LU4Water project, with the objective to clarify how the human right to water can be implemented in the water policy development. Presenters: Dan-Erik Andersson, senior lecturer in Human Rights Studies, and Johanna Ohlsson postdoctoral researcher in Human Rights Studies.
This postdoc project within Human Rights Studies will investigate the use and non-use of human rights language and perspectives concerning water issues in Sweden. By looking at national, regional and local plans, interviewing key persons and performing a questionnaire survey, the role and non-role of human rights in water management will be revealed. From the results, the postdoc position will also include a best-practice discussion that could form a foundation for future discussions of how water management can be framed within a human rights discourse. These discussions could not only guide the discussions on an international level but also, and maybe first and foremost, on regional and local levels.
